Robin is a member of the House of Lords where he leads on energy and climate change issues for the Liberal Democrats. In the late nineties he was a member of the European Parliament representing Cornwall and Plymouth. In Brussels and Strasbourg he took a particular interest in marine, environmental and regional policy issues. His business career has been in freight and logistics, and more recently the provision of finance to the small and medium-sized business sector. Robin is currently chairman of Wessex Investors Ltd and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Robin lives with his wife in Cornwall and they have two daughters.
