The Clean Energy Powerhouse Prospectus sets out the major investment opportunities for clean energy across the Great South West.
Thirty years ago, the UK’s first commercial onshore wind farm was developed in the Great South West, at Delabole in Cornwall. Now, faced with the scale of change required to meet net zero, the region is once again at the forefront of pioneering clean energy in the new industries of offshore wind, nuclear energy, geothermal, hydrogen, biofuels, critical minerals and battery manufacturing presented in this energy prospectus.
The Great South West has the potential to supply up to 11% of Great Britain’s clean power demand by 2035, unlocking up to £10 billion in GVA and 175,000 jobs in the process.
The prospectus also sets out how the Great South West intends to work with government to unlock these opportunities and play a leading role in Powering Up Britain.
